“There are countless pictures uploaded to Instagram daily that use Tokyo as a motif.

Many of these pictures are taken from the same positions, but when I occassionally see a picture taken from an angle I've never seen before, it makes me feel refreshed.
The theme of the Tokyo Tokyo Photo Awards was "Traditional and Innovative Tokyo", but there were many pictures that gave me that feeling of refreshment.

In the Innovative division there were pictures that drew on the urban sense unique to Tokyo, through motifs such as sophisticated architecture and the crowds, whereas the Traditional division drew attention with photographs that captured the different perspectives of festivals, shrines and temples within the city.
Tokyo is a city where tradition and innovation coexist, and many entrants must have wondered if their photo falls into the Innovative or Traditional category. I believe that those pictures may be the true charm of Tokyo.„

I feel the history and the beauty from the
stone wall to endure the snow.

One of few rare shots of
snow-covered Tokyo.
The monotone scenery of the
Imperial Palace's Nigata
Bridge conveys the history.

The balance of the red,
black and white is beautiful.
The way the snow was shot (shutter speed)
is also spectacular. Snow piled on the
two people's umbrellas makes me
wonder how far they've walked and
how much snow has fallen.
This is a wonerful picture
no matter how many times
I look at it.

A very interesting shot.

A white Tokyo Station
made up in snow.
A rare sight even
for people who live in Tokyo.

A rare shot of a snowy Tokyo Station
Marunouchi area.
The overall white world is dotted
black with people, which provides
an interesting way to show the
scale of Tokyo station.

Tsukiji Marketplace,
a place that supported Japan’s
food culture and served as
Japan’s kitchen from 1935 to
2018 for a total of 83 years.
Tsukiji served its term, ending with
the final auction held in October.
In this one shot is captured the
marketplace, which is uniquely
shaped like a large claw so that
the food freight trains can pass through,
as well as the skyscrapers in the background.

A shot of Tsukiji Market that
closed its 83 year long history this fall.
There is a nice contrast between
the distinctly shaped fan roof
and the modern buildings in the landcsape.

Bon Odori in front of Ebisu Station.
In two days more than 60,000 people visited,
and although you can find many
fashionable men and women nowadays,
the festival was originally created by
the locals directly following
the war when there was little
entertainment in order to
increase the rapport....

A surprising scene for
anyone who is used to seeing
Ebisu Station everyday.
The shot angle is superb,
and the image portrays
the bustle and splendor
of Bon-odori.

Took this picture in the middle of the night,
